praying mom tools

During the mom's Bible study last summer, on the book A Mom After God's Own Heart, I was able to to grow, learn and fellowship with other mom's further down the momma-road. I had the youngest child in the group at just 8 months. Like a sponge, I soaked up everything these other mom's had to say! They were FULL of great advice and tips. I'm sure I didn't take enough notes! They made me SO very excited that I am now a mom and on this road they are enjoying! (I know there is and will be difficult times, but they even had tons of great tips for that too!!)

In this post, I'd like to share about the prayer journal. A fellow mom of 3 shared this little tool. It's nothing fancy or complicated but is a tool to treasure -that just keeps growing!

It's as simple as it sounds... a 3 ring binder and lined paper. It's a designated place to journal your prayers for your child. I write more general prayers on the front of the sheet and specific ones on the back. The book Power of a Praying Parent is a great place to start if you don't know where to begin with this. It often inspires me to go journal a prayer! I usually start with a topic or a bible verse and just start writing... some days it's a short one, some days it's long. Some days it starts out general and gets very specific. It just depends and I love that it's so open. Praying scripture will help you get started if you're stumped and help you get deeper.

Often when I buy a journal (which I love to do! I have many, many journals just waiting to be filled up!) I get stuck thinking and planning how to fill it and not run out of room or trying to decide if I should write on both sides or what to do if I accidentally skip a page and end up with a blank one in the middle! :-O I know doesn't sound like a tragedy, but it's something I think about! :-) With loose lined paper, I can always keep filling it! I've even started one for little LG! (you should see her binder! I found it at the dollar store. It. is. girly! and I love it!)
