Tot School

Mr. A is currently 24 months old

Here are some of our tot school activities from this week...

shape sorting... he's getting pretty good at some of the shapes! But after he did those few he knew, he took the lid off and put the rest in that way. It cracked me up!! Pretty smart, but we'll work on doing all the shapes another day. :-)

This is a Leap Frog letter game he got for his birthday. He's a big fan of it! So I only bring it out once in awhile so it stays that way. There are several letter games, we've been working on finding the letter it calls out this week. He does great at it as long as he's paying attention... :-)

sometimes it's fun to push the letter key with your nose!

we've had a pretty cold and rainy week but we did get out a little bit. He enjoyed playing with the wet sand and seeing how it's a different texture/consistency than dry. (thanks to me who forgot to cover it before it rained... ALOT) He really liked driving his cars in the wet sand and seeing the roads he made!

fun times with dominoes! His favorite one is the double nine and sometimes the double zero.

taking a break to say hi to his sister...

the box is fun to open and close too!

our craft this week was a pumpkin...

I tore up orange squares that he glued (w/ glue stick) to a paper plate, then I coiled a green pipe cleaner for the vine. (our current collection of construction paper has now brown for the stem.) (I saw this idea on someones blog, but I can't find the blog right now)

A little more outside playtime in the cold included getting our gardens ready for winter... he enjoyed raking the dirt!

we did more letter identification work with the fridge magnets...

Then we worked on sorting the colors. He knows his colors but this is the first time I've asked him to sort them. He was able to put them in the correct pile... but his attention was VERY short for this activity!

The new letter board I just got!... He didn't really get this activity -I haven't worked much with him on letter sounds just yet. (but I know this was asking alot from a two year old! :-) )

The week ended with a field trip to the zoo!! Although he was asking to see horses... I think ALL the other animals he saw (and touched -like the elephant!) made up for not seeing horses. :-)

I think watching the fish swim around might have been his favorite... at least he did that the longest...or it was just that this was one of the last stops and he was tired and the swimming fish were lulling him to sleep. :-)

The ducks came to say hi up close!

He loves every minute of time he gets to spend with daddy! In the morning he asks "daddy 'ome daddy 'ome??" so I remind him Daddy doesn't come home until after naptime.. but I need to come up with something else to say b/c he's been waking up from his nap again saying "daddy 'ome! daddy 'ome!"

Sharks!

He touched it! :-) (but don't worry- that's part of the exhibit :-) you're aloud to touch them)

That's it for this week! See you all next time!

  2. What a busy week! I've never thought of grouping magnetic letters by colour. We have done paddle pop sticks in the past and picture cards. I will have to try this with my son. Thanks
